چکیده

The problem of crack branching and deflection in bi-material system is considered in this paper. The combinations may be piezoelectric-piezoelectric, or piezoelectric and non-piezoelectric. Based on Stroh's formulation for anisotropic material, Green's functions for various bi-material combinations are presented within the framework of two-dimensional electro-elasticity, allowing the crack problem to be expressed in terms of coupled singular integral equations. Then, a set of singular integral equations is developed and solved numerically. The crack path selection is investigated using the integral equations and the maximum energy release rate criterion. Numerical results are presented to study the role of remote electro-elastic loads on the path selection of crack extension.
